Sent some coins out to NGC & ANACS

ANACS got the cleaned ones and a few reholders that needed the BIGGER new size.

NGC got the reholders too.

Thanks you folks for helping me out a few months back on WHOM to send cleaned gold coins to.

I've been knocking out some coins lately in those cheesy holders (read OVER GRADED ones CCGS, and others) that I bought years ago. Getting them back graded I know why they were cheap! Get it?

They came back LOW LOWER and LOWEST! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I never buy investment coins graded by off-brand grading companies unless I can get them for spot. One question why didn't you send them to PCGS? They are who I use.

PCGS won't grade cleaned, scratched, nicked, or altered coins. ANACS will (with a comment on the label)

Re: Sent some coins out to NGC & ANACS

Sadly, PCGS once lost my 10 Saints for 7 weeks - and never gave me the GUARANTEED coupons for their SCREW-UP. So, guess what?

Now NGC just sent me back my two coins today. They charged me for REHOLDERING one they did last week BECAUSE the holder was scratched ON the INSIDE and I could not see the 1909/8 $20 Saint Gold coin. So they are not on my list.

From now on I will buy PCGS & NGC - but I'll be a monkey's uncle before I send either another coin - period.

PS ANACS was first class in counter slabbing my cheesy CCGS Saints. I'm getting one back graded 1909 D/D $20 AU58 - a rare coin.

ANACS is under-rated, imho, but yeah, I never bother slabbing coins myself.

Yeah ANACS returned the coins round trip in ten working days from day sent; and it took 4 days to get there!

While PCGS took 10 weeks - they are only 25 miles away - go figure - and they lost them for 6 weeks.

While NGC took a month and a few days round trip - and they missed the quality control on the slab that had to be redone, go figure.

I WILL buy NGC & PCGS - but I'll never trust them again because their QUALITY control is like Lincoln RICHY RICH Cars - whose workmen put plastic coke bottles in the door with a note in it saying, "you finally found the rattle you rich S.O.B." (Reminds me the War on poverty wherein President Carter signed in 1977 to put more POOR folks in homes that later turned into the 2000s and NO MONEY Down - so they can DEFAULT)

Well, I found the RATTLE at PCGS & NGC.

And I don't like my slabs being RATTLES!

Rattle that NGC & PCGS!

One of the things I like about the new ANACS holders is that they are curved at the top and have the coin info that you can see when they are stored in a box. Very neat.

Everything back fine - LOVE their ANACS holders first time I saw one - wow.

ANACS graded my 1909 AU58 with a D/D and some FUNNY Breen Number - double WOW!

CHECK these out -

Fun to see them with this type HOLDER:

http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/prod...fiedCoins.aspx

Because the TOP is clear with a minor tint.

They used to sell the similar 25 coin holders - bought nine of them - and these 20s are fine too.

Do you remove them from the holders before sending or leave them in the old holders?

I have one CCGS "MS-67" I'd like to get a legit grade on. Luckily its been a while, so what I paid for it is lower than spot today.

PCGS and ANACS are my personal top two. PCGS is number 1 since I know they are most respected by dealers and collectors alike. NGC is also high up there in my book since so many sellers and buyers like them. I hate NGC holder's though. I wish they would come up with a clear see through holder.

I would have to second that. I think ANACS has the best holders. PCGS needs to update their holder and so does NGC.

Frankly if I had to do it over I would figure out a way to send them in RAW. seems to me the NGC/PCGS folks hate CCGS and really grade them down a TAD lower than they should. No benefit of a doubt involved being righteous and letting them remove the coins - in fact - they like to send them back so you pay twice!

I third what you just said. however, that would cause a lot of us send in hundreds for RE-SLABING!

Do you think it raises the value much having them graded? Enough to cover the cost of having it done?

So you think I'd be better off to remove the ones from the fake/suspicious graders, then? I have zero expectation of it being an MS-67 anyway, but it would be nice if it got an MS-64, even. The fear is it comes back an AU-58 Cleaned or something.

On high value coins it is a no brainer. On low value coins and bullion coins it may not make sense to have them graded. However, if you can get bullion in a NGC or PCGS slab for a $1 more then why not? You will make out when it comes time to sell.

I agree, I've gotten some nice PCGS AU55/58 Saints for a bit over spot, roughly the same premium as Krugs, so why not? It's still gold.

It makes them easier to sell LATER on SOME day. AS - I plan to use the internet somehow.

And they all go nicely into my separate collections as such. I have been both dissapointed and pleased in the grading processes. Some sent in as MS60 in old unrecognized slabs - come back MS65; some sent in as MS62 - come back AU58. I guess it comes with paying your dues to learn - I guess.

However, that said, I LOVE AU58s - and will purchase many top end RARE Saints in that or lower.

Re: Sent some coins out to NGC & ANACS

Sent ANACS another few coins arrived today there. They are a HECK of a lot nicer than PCGS or MGC period.:yes::yes:

The coins that I sent them were old 1853 & 1857 France & Mexico large gold coins. :sleepy13: Sleepers.

I bought them 8 years ago because of novels that I wrote - and they were LEGAL CURRENCY in America back then - something to say about the BS paper crapola we have use now, right? :ok:

I expect EF 45 to AU 58 on all; should look nice with the big OLD Liberties.:ok:

YES - I feel IT is worth the expense for the "insurance" to sell or trade later on in life - someday down the road - as I do not LOGICALLY figure things will be the same as they are today.

Think about that out-of-the-box thinking for the unknown future.

Also think about the most liberal person in the history of America taking over - he would make FDR look far right to Genghis Kahn - and I think you might get it. I'm very sorry for America. Sadly.
